This is a blog for my design 4 media class. Hopefully it will show a metamorphosis of my work.

I set out to better understand and practice candid photography and I did just that. These aren’t my best pictures or the most well done technically, but I think I achieved my goal. This is my final project for Design 4 Media.

Photos from a few weeks ago when I didn’t make a post. It’s the end of the semester. Time to present the final results today! I really hope it goes well.

Some more photos. Experimenting with candid shots. Have some better ones of people laughing but I can’t tell from the tiny icons if any of these are them.

My teacher suggested I try a bunch of different ways to take candid pictures. Most of them were pretty in your face spontaneous. But the weather has been pretty spotty so my friend and I took her car around downtown and take pictures as quickly as possible. I got some okay results but I still need to experiment with angles and technique. It’s been a bit too rainy but it’s my job as an artist and a student to solve the technical hurdles.

just a few of my photos. I have 218. Trying to upload as many as possible. there has got to be a more efficient way.

Henri Cartier-Bresson Proposal—details finalized

Apr 2nd at 9PM / 0 notes

So I was given a critique of my proposal by my teacher and my classmates and they brought up some valid points:

So I came up with some more drawn out details to post!

Test shots will be taken starting tomorrow, around and outside of campus, just to get a feel for my style I suppose. Official shots will be taken starting at gallery hop if things go as planned. Happy posting!

Proposal: in the style of Henri Cartier-Bresson

Recently I’ve been researching Henri Cartier-Bresson, the father of photojournalism and his work really interests me because my best photographic work is candid street photography. Almost all of his work is in black and white because of the time period. And it captures ONE moment so well as a whole.

“Above all, I craved to seize the whole essence, in the confines of one single photograph, of some situation that was in the process of unrolling itself before my eyes.”— Henri Cartier-Bresson
